Education Psychology

MET Educational Psychologist Service works in partnership with schools, local authorities, families and other professionals to improve the experiences of learning for children and young people. In addition to our MET Schools we have supported 17 schools to determine effective strategies and support to aid pupil and student learning.


Our Educational Psychology service offers a broad service which includes the following:


  • in-depth psychological assessment, implementation of evidence-based intervention and recommendations for individual children  - with follow-up and review as needed
  • consultation and support for staff in problem solving challenging issues which are barriers to inclusion
  • advice on strategies and interventions to assist schools with their applications for EHCPs
  • contribution to the Dyslexia Pathway process
  • delivery of one to one and small group therapeutic interventions that support and enhance  mental wellbeing, social skills and emotional literacy
  • group and whole class Mindfulness lessons, following the Paws B curriculum
  • delivering evidence-based staff wellbeing sessions
  • bespoke twilight and INSET training for staff on a wide range of topics
    • psychological consultation and interventions with families as part of individual child interventions, including through the use of Video Interaction Guidance
    • making and supporting referrals to other agencies such as CAMHS and Umbrella Pathway
    • consultation on developing, implementing and reviewing school-wide mental health provision
    • whole school SEND review guidance and support

Bronagh McCloskey, Educational Psychologist (B.A. Hons, M.A., PGCE, MSc, HCPC registered)


Bronagh has worked as an Educational Psychologist for almost 20years in a wide range of settings across Worcestershire and prior to this in Nottingham. Since qualifying Bronagh estimates that she has worked with almost 100 schools, including all types of mainstream and special school settings. She uses her expertise in psychology and special educational needs to work with pupils, school staff and families to facilitate positive change and to support the successful inclusion and achievement of all children and young people. Bronagh has a particular interest in promoting positive mental health for both children and staff in schools and this includes being qualified to deliver the Paws B (Mindfulness in Schools Project) curriculum to Key Stage 2 classes. She is an accredited Video Interaction Guidance (VIG) practitioner and also has extensive experience of developing and supporting anti-bullying initiatives in schools. She now contributes to the inclusion agenda at a national level through her appointment as an Inclusion Reviewer for the DfE’s Standards and Testing Agency. She ensures that her practice stays fully informed by developments in educational research through a robust programme of CPD and peer supervision.
